A buffer overflow in Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE) may result in denial of service. MSIE does not properly handle some types of files. When MSIE attempts to render a PNG file, it does not properly check the parameters of a PNG file. Because of this, it is possible to launch a denial of service against a browser that will result in having to restart the browser each time a site with a malicious PNG file is visited.
