IRIX is the UNIX-derived operating system distributed and maintained by SGI. It has been discovered that the cpr program included with IRIX is vulnerable to a buffer overflow. This could allow local exploitation of the overflow to overwrite stack variables, including the return address. This could result in the execution of arbitrary code with elevated privileges.
