A problem with the Java Runtime Environment may make the unauthorized access to restricted resources possible. It has been reported that the Sun Java Runtime Environment does not properly protect restricted resources. Because of this, it may be possible for an attacker to use a malicious applet to gain access to sensitive restricted resources. It should be noted that SDK and JRE 1.4.0 and later releases for Windows, Linux, and Solaris are not affected by this issue.
