The SUNWlldap library on Sun Solaris has been reported vulnerable to a buffer overflow condition. The overflow occurs when an application linked to the affected LDAP library is used to resolve hostnames of excessive length. By supplying a malicious hostname to an affected application it could be possible for an attacker to overwrite sensitive locations in memory. Successful exploitation may allow for arbitrary code execution with the privileges of the target process. This vulnerability has been reported to affect 'SUNWlldap 11.8.0' previous versions may also be affected.
