MailScanner may potentially be bypassed if the mail server is under heavy load and if SMTP ETRN commands are permitted. This condition reportedly occurs when MailScanner is deployed on an overworked mail server. Messages in the incoming mail queue will not be processed by MailScanner. This may cause malicious e-mail in the queue to bypass MailScanner.
