The virtual memory mapping module for the FreeBSD kernel has been reported prone to a local denial of service vulnerability. A local user may exploit this issue to influence the virtual memory mapping module of the FreeBSD kernel into allocating arbitrary amounts of memory. This may potentially exhaust system resources. Once memory resources are exhausted, a kernel panic will likely occur, effectively denying service to legitimate users. It is not currently known if other BSD derivatives are affected by this issue.
