A design error is present in the Microsoft NTFS filesystem. Reports indicate that a design error in the NTFS driver code results in disk blocks being assigned to files before the disk blocks are properly initialized. This may expose sensitive data that previously existed in the non-initialized disk blocks to malicious users. A local attacker may trigger this issue to reveal sensitive data, this data may then be used to aid in further attacks. It should be noted that it is likely that it is not possible to control or predict the data that is revealed.
