lpd is a daemon used to receive print jobs through the network. It will accept requests from users and machines listed in either of two files, /etc/hosts.equiv or /etc/hosts.lpd. An error in the OpenBSD lpd allows a remote root user who is able to access lpd to create arbitrary new files in the root directory. Earlier versions of OpenBSD may also be vulnerable. By default, lpd is not enabled on OpenBSD.
