Red Hat Linux is the Linux distribution maintained and distributed by Red Hat Incorporated. Red Hat Linux offers a scalable, full featured operating system that can operate on a system as small as a desktop, and large as an enterprise server. A problem with the creation of swap files makes it possible for local users to recover sensitive data. When upgrading a system with less swap space than physical ram, Red Hat gives the user the option of creating a swap file on the ext2 file system. This file, however, is created with world readable permissions. This problem makes it possible for local users to gain access to privileged information, and potentially passwords.
