CGI Script Center's Subscribe Me Lite is a shareware version of Subscribe Me, a mailing list manager. Subscribe Me Lite creates a default addresses.txt database file which, if stored incorrectly, could allow a remote attacker to use information contained in that file to delete subscribers from the subscription database. If the addresses.txt file is placed in a world readable directory (thus bypassing the need for an administrative password to view the file), a remote attacker could view it and using the email addresses contained in it, unsubscribe that user from the list. It is not clear how a remote attacker could determine which directory the addresses.txt file is installed in by default other than by knowing in advance, the local configuration of the machine and the install process that Subscribe Me Lite used.
